TMI - a last hurrah????

So. I am surfing the crimson wave again, after almost TWO YEARS of nada. Thanks, uterus. Needless to say, I'm almost completely unprepared. I need to dig through my undersink cupboard to see if I do in fact still have my Diva cup, which would be awesome, since I can boil the thing and use it again. If not, I'll be visiting an aisle in the grocery store I haven't in some time... XD
In other news! Finished watching The Librarians movies (eh, I don't like Flynn much, but it's background information, and his vampire gf was AWESOME! Team Simone! <333333) and the first three seasons of the show! I love all four of the junior Librarians, and Baird is great and Jenkins is wonderful and I super want domestic fluff and lots of it!!!!! <3333333333333333333333
Have also, as of this weekend, watched the first season of Midnight, Texas which I enjoyed a good deal! Especially for Lemuel and Fiji! ;D Mmmm. The end of the season finale was delightful and wonderful after all they'd been through, and I really enjoyed the ensemble cast! Two! Count 'em, two black main cast! And a Latino, plus another couple POC in the B-list! Woo! Also I think the women/men ratio is actually p close to 50/50? Unusual! :D I might have actually found urban fantasy I like! (Due to having read waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Charles de Lint all at once in the 80s. I did it to myself, but I really still find the whole vampires and werewolves thing p tiresome. MT? Though??? Different! I like it! ::is pleased::) OK, so I also get a little crabby about the trope of Christianity Is Correct re the supernatural - angels and demons are A Thing - but again, this spins it differently enough (ish) that I merely grump to myself a bit now and then.
It helps that the angel is gay, okay?
A nit to pick, though, is that the demon - spoiler? I thought it p dang obvious, but then again I've read Devil & Devil..... - the demon the angel loves is the secondary Latino, and the angel is white. Actually both the angels so far are white. So I'm a little irritated at that. Small sample size so far, I guess.
I think I'm a little done with the trope that not only is Christianity Correct, but the "side of the angels" are super uptight or bloodthirsty and self-righteous douchecanoes. Meh. (The gay angel, Joe, is a dear, though. He gets a little wild-eyed and panicky, but he has v good reasons. He knows what his kind is capable of.) I think I'd like to see, if one has to do angels and demons, something more like Diane Duane does it. Fairest and Fallen, greetings and defiance...! ;D
Anyway, I'm considering getting the books, although I worry that the things I like about the show might be things they added... I have no idea rn, gonna poke around and see. Also I think it got picked up for a second season so huzzah!
Lem. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
In yet other news! I've been playing - and replaying - a new-to-me game called Night In the Woods, which is a neat little animated side-scroller sort of thing. No shooting, really, mostly exploring and dialog, with a pan main character with mental health issues that are important but not...exploited, it didn't seem like? Awww, Mae! <3 I love Bea and Angus and Gregg! <333 It's very autumnal and a bit Lovecraftian, ultimately, not to give too much away... Set in New England I think, so there's that already. Small, rural town, struggling not to go under in tough economic times. u.u
The animation is simplistic, but as you walk Mae along there are leaves to skirl away, and pigeons and squirrels and all kinds of little, lively details. And you get to run around on the powerlines! XD Mother of Vermin! (It's on Steam, so there are Achievements!) I finally mostly got the hang of the jumping, though on my replay I'm hoping to avoid the abandoned grocery store one. Blargh. =_= (You can kind of choose who to hang out with at certain junctures, and while it doesn't change the overall story, you do end up in a few different little scenarios.)

Date: 2018-07-18 02:02 am (UTC)It is! It's super fun and the juniors are all adorable! <333333 John Laroquette is a demmed fine actor, too, somewhat to my surprise, since I remember him mostly from Night Court. XD
:DDDDDDD
It was on sale and my nephew and his fiancee highly recommended it. I did not realize at the time that they were watching letsplays, not actually playing it themselves... xDDD Which is totally fine, I like letsplays too!
::SNUGS!::

Date: 2018-07-19 02:40 am (UTC)I watched some of the Librarians TV shows, but never saw the original movies - looked quite fun, is on my watchlist ^^
Hadn't heard of Midnight, Texas - will also add to watchlist-when-I-have-brain-again. Yay gay angels! But yeah, what the heck they all seem to end up white? Hopefully they'll branch out a bit. Diane Duane version to be preferred, most definitely *nodnod*

Date: 2018-07-19 06:57 am (UTC)I like the series much more, yeah! :D The four junior Librarians are all such dears! <3333
I think I must have seen something about it on Tumblr? Probably due to unusual degree of diversity for network tv? Anyway, the actor playing Lemuel is Peter Mensah, who did the voice for Predaking in TFP!!! 8DDDDDDDDDDD
