I have now read One Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and The Broken Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin - and enjoyed both very much! I think I might have enjoyed the subject matter of the second a teensy bit more than the first; I love sort of daily life in the shadow of a ginormous tree sort of things, with godlets running around. Such fun! Unfortunately my favorite character...well, never mind. Spoilers. Sigh. I love love love how the story is told via Oree's senses - it's very vivid without always being visual per se. Nice!

I made a Madding necklace! With, of course, peridots and aquamarines. (But mostly glass beads. Peridot is expensive! O.O Also, my birthstone. ♥) It turned out longer than I meant it to be, but it's still a nice springlike palette. I tried a new thing - for me - and did it in a crossing over double strand. Because Madding is the god of Obligations, and obligations involve at least two people, with intentions intertwined. :D

Today I bought six cubic feet of poo.

Mostly earthworm poo, but chicken poo and bat poo were also involved. :D The new irises are all planted, as well as the dozen 4" perennials I bought there at the nursery. \o/

On the robot front:
All my Primes! Except the latest Legends and one I forgot because it was down by the TV but photographed later, and the big pillow who is too big. ^___^ Re the heads: the one on the left is a night-light, the one on the right is a slurpee cup, and the small one is a really neat little resin bust. 8D
The World's Smallest Transformers contemplate a transforming Prime smaller than they are. ^^;

Jets! Surprisingly most of these guys still have their missiles. The rule is, if you shoot me, you get disarmed. ^.^
This is everyone pulled off the Ikea shelves so I could rearrange and transform more of the vehicle modes to make, well, more room. ^^; I put them on my bed to ensure I'd get them put back that night. Which I did. And...I should photograph them. Especially since I got all the TF:A Seekers transformed and in one place and Sunstorm is being amusing.

Friday, I finally finished the Top Gear Pillows based on ldhenson's awesome pattern!!! The top pillow shows the back. I'm keeping one, Brotherman gets one and I'm offering first right of refusal to Brotherman's best friend. \o/

From the Oops I Forgot to Post These A Long Time Ago Dept:
Pics from the new bamboo floor installation! Down the hall. The tape was to hold it together since that part is on concrete and is glued rather than nailed, and was pulled up the next morning. Looking into the dining room and entry from the living room. The living room showing the new baseboard Dad put in. An attempt to show the rather interesting grain on the bamboo, near a node. We're still really pleased with it. :D

I have spent the afternoon groping cleaning the flash and seam lines off the Drift resin kit! Not very much flash, which is disappointing because once I got the hang of it I found I enjoy snipping the larger pieces off. ... ANYWAY, the nice thing about this kit is he's a robot, not a human figure with smooth skin that one has to be very diligent about sanding the seams off. I left a few on because they look like added detail. ^_^; Started with his swords (sometimes a knife is just a knife... ^_~) and worked my way over every curve and plane, endeavoring not to miss any delicate seam or crevice; taking especial care with his aft section (must ensure the maximum range of articulation); ending with his legs (cute feet!!) where I felt I ought to smooth his bodywork a little in places. There are some bubbles here and there but I don't have any putty and might just consider them battle damage. ^_~ Yes I know those are supposed to be filled and sanded before the bath, but this is NoCal, once this series of storms is over it'll be dry as a bone up here again, as my skin can attest.

Now he's recovering soaking in a bath with of Comet and Dawn. Sounds like a trine, dunnit... ;D

He's supposed to be about 5" tall in robot mode, so TINY LITTLE PIECES OMG! Bearing in mind this is my first resin kit, I'm pretty pleased with it so far. The head needed almost nothing done other than taking an egregious bit of pointyness off his nose. (We're talking Escaflowne nose here - that tip needed to go.) The description says you can leave him unpainted. Um. No, not really. There are more irregularities in the grey pieces than the cream, but he definitely needs paint. I want to use a pearl white - or interference blue if I can find some - and metallic FM red! And I'd like to try those translucent paints for his eyes and the glowy bits on his helm. Mmmmmm.

On the Top Gear Pillow front, I have one panel stitched so far - five to go! I'd forgotten how relaxing hand stitching is. I was thinking about the scientist in 9, how he might have felt making the wee robots/dolls. What he was doing was far more profound than what I'm doing, but there's something about hand work like that. Connecting with the work, the recipient, the past, the future. If landfills are anaerobic they're vast time capsules - unless a dog rips one of these pillows to shreds or something, archaeologists of the future will be wondering what the significance of the three silhouettes and the gear are... XD

One of these days I'll invest in another pair of needlenose pliers, thus sparing my left-hand fingertips and nails. Jump rings, I am dented by them nao.
